When I want a good time, there are two things I need. I need something to do during the clear light of day and something to do at night out of glare of scrutiny. I have both since I live in Orange County. For those of you who don't know, Orange County is in California along the coast South of Los Angeles.
During the day, the first thing I want to do is play golf. No, I don't mean mini golf. I mean golf under clear blue skies over a rolling sea of low, green grass. When I hit a ball, it takes flight and has the hang of artillery. People duck. I warn them..sometimes. I walk or drive a long way to chase those little white balls. No, it is not a waste of time.
What is so good about golf, you ask? First, it is not rushed. I hate having to hurry. When on the course, I have time to think. I plan carefully, and still have time to talk about business in a way that does not get in the way. Those deals count. Golf might pay for itself. Second, I vent my aggression. I vent my rage harmlessly on an inanimate object. I may be the only one who feels this way. Third, it is never the same experience. There is always a twist. Partly, the surprise is from partners, but a big part is that no one, especially me, truly masters golf. Hence, there is always something to strive for. Forth, I escape from the people who annoy me and things that burden me. Yes, you heard right; golf is like fishing. Finally, I live in the perfect place for golf. This part of Southern California has several good golf courses, many good players, and better weather than almost any other place on the planet. It is golf heaven.
When the sun sets, I sometimes hang up my golf clubs for night clubs. Here again, I live in heaven. We have nightclubs of every variety. Disco might be dead, but the clubs are not. We have hip-hop, bikini bars, salsa, heavy metal, techno and other things like ballroom dance halls. Sometimes, it is not the place but the beautiful young people who make it worthwhile. Other times, it is the sophisticated crowd that overwhelms the ambiance. Orange County is a great place for nightclubs...and bikinis. This is the land of pretty faces and prettier figures. It is nightlife heaven because the night life is so magnificent.
For those of you don't know and are unlucky, Orange County is between Los Angeles and San Diego on the coast of Southern California. The big towns include Irvine, Anaheim with its famous mouse, Costa Mesa, Newport Beach, Huntington Beach, Yorba Linda, Santa Ana, Laguna Beach, Garden Grove, and Brea.
