Many have been said about electronic eBook but do we have any idea on the history of it? Do we know whom we should thank for this great innovation that has helped a lot of people especially in our time right now? Well, here are some bits of history of .
Electronic book, as its name suggest, is a resemblance of a book which is presented digitally in the format of conventional printed book that we are able to read with the use of a laptop, personal computer or even a hardware device which is popularly called as book reader. The humble beginning of the electronic book which brought out further innovations dates back in 1971 as Michael Hart of United States of America though of creating a scanning and retrieval of text in libraries with the use of computer storage. With the great thinking of Michael Hart, it was able to give birth to the very first origin of electronic book. It was then called as “Declaration of Independence” but it was also changed to “Project Gutenberg”. At present, it is comprised of 10,000 books and 20,000 texts.
Actually, there is a monthly download of 3,000,000 books. In addition, the huge wave of download of books has flooded the web owing to the fact that it is very easy to store on a disk or even in a hard drive. In terms of its production, it is produced by the use of document scanning and by the other use of robotic book scanners.
In the first days of the
, it was only limited topics of specialty like technical manuals, documents, or articles regarding manufacturing techniques incorporated with hardware at its best. However, the books like such didn’t have any further impact to the readers since there was also no consensus on reading, packaging, and selling. On the other hand, many diverse specifications, which are known to be supported by the leaders of software companies and even by those independent programmers, have came in numbers that served readers with plenty of multiple formats that results to the next level of fragmentation in the book industry. By that time, the electronic book was not yet considered to be the mainstream of the entire item.
But as time passed by especially in the rise of the twentieth century, the importance and power of the electronic book has been fully realized. Now, we can see many commuters who are reading electronic books straight from their laptop. Not only that, technology has taken its toll in the proliferation of electronic books since many commuters too have been able to read such books right from their cell phones!
Now, the whole world has seen the power and benefits that we can derive out of using the electronic books that are made available and are improved all over the world. No wonder, aside from the many advantages of the electronic books, even environmentalist would say that it has helped for the promotion of the environment.
